16 January 2003: Horsemen

Mercury retrograde.  Mars square Uranus.  The daytime weather feels like glorious springtime, but everything has cracks in it.  My serotonin levels are even more abnormal than usual, and when they peak I see armed horsemen charging across the sky.  Persephone is in the Underworld, and this year she does not go gently; when she paces to and fro in the palace of Hades, the walls tremble and her spike heels strike sparks from the flagstones.

Beauty will be born of this year, but it may hatch from many eggs that we thought were solid, that we thought we could rest upon, build upon, keep safely near our hearts.

Bonkydog and Labyrinthine have broken up, after almost exactly one year together.  Labyrinthine is moving out soon, back into the tiny home shared by her two ancient grandmothers.

In May, when the lease runs out, Bonkydog will move out, too, to live alone again.  And Argus will move out; he and Sylph will be getting a little place of their own.

I do not know what I will be doing.  But then, no one truly does, so perhaps I should be grateful to be burdened, in this heavy season, with one less illusion than usual.
