| 11 March 2003: Even for Me |

I'm moving in with Dragon Lady in five weeks. We spent Saturday shopping for furniture, and I spent Sunday night and Monday night at her place, soon to be our place, assembling said furniture. And in five weeks, I'll pack up all the stuff that I feel like hanging onto this time around, and the Khan and I will put it in a truck and move it into her apartment. Dragon Lady's apartment isn't very big, but it's big enough for two people who get along as well as she and I do. Especially if they're not cooped up in it all the time, which we won't be, because her apartment is located right in Downtown Berkeley, the best possible location I could ask for. Within a five-block radius of the apartment are about a dozen of my favorite places to eat, at least a dozen cafés, the UC Berkeley campus, the Downtown Berkeley BART station and AC Transit hub, Vista College (where I go to school), the Downtown Berkeley YMCA (where I teach aikido, practice tae kwon do, and will now be able do whatever other exercise I feel like doing, every morning). And of course the very best thing about Dragon Lady's apartment is that it's where Dragon Lady lives. Once I move in, I'll live with her. I try to think about the move in other terms, like, "I'll be in a better location," or, "My rent will be lower," because if I face it straight on, if I actually think, "I'll be living with Dragon Lady," I become incapacitated with happiness and can't get anything done. I
must get things done, because I'm very very busy. Even for me.
Even compared to the other times that I've said that I'm very very busy
even for me. It was rather a shock to my housemates and me when
we had a house meeting a few weeks ago and looked at our lease and discovered
that our lease did not, as we had all incorrectly remembered, end at the
end of May, but at the end of April. I was already very busy trying
to keep on top of my schoolwork, but now I must not merely keep on top
of it, but pull ahead far enough that I can afford to spend Spring Break
packing, moving, and unpacking, instead of doing homework. I've
dropped my film class, because there's no way I'm going to be able to
write an actual term paper on top of everything else. If I work
hard, though, I can still ace my two remaining classes. So I will
indeed be working hard, from now until after the move. Which means
that there won't be many journal entries for a while. A shame, because
I find I have much to tell lately.
