3 May 2003: Imprints and Aspirations

The first three cards of my tarot deck are now up in the Tarot section.  Took down some of the artwork that has been, or will eventually be, rendered redundant by being incorporated into present or future tarot cards.

The tarot deck is still an "after I'm done with school" project for me.  This is just a head start that I was able to pull off by getting my awesome Digital Imaging teacher to agree (enthusiastically, in fact) to let me create six cards as my final project for her class.  So here's Judgement and the Ace of Disks, the images for which will already be familiar to those who have browsed my Art Gallery pages in the past, and the Queen of Disks, which is all-new.  The Two of Swords, the Devil, and the Hierophant will be along soon.  After that, I'll do maybe one or two cards a year, for many many years.

Taarna, Galahad, and Grace are moving to Kansas City in a week.  I am sad and too tired to write about it in detail, except to say that I'm glad that before she left, Taarna had time to be the model for the Queen of Disks.

And now to bed.  I'll be back with more updates in a couple of weeks, when I've finished my overambitious final projects for this semester.

"The purpose of art is not to mirror reality, but to shape it by the imprints and aspirations that it leaves in the human mind."
