| 7 June 2003: Training |

On Tuesday evening I went to my first shotokan karate class. I'm still doing tae kwon do, so now I'm practicing three martial arts. Like tae kwon do, the shotokan karate class is at the Berkeley YMCA where I teach aikido, and thus is three blocks from my apartment, and costs me no money. The karate class has been at the Y even longer than my aikido class, but it just wasn't time for me to do it until now. Now I've got tae kwon do Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays; karate Tuesdays and Saturdays; aikido Wednesdays and Sundays. I haven't done this much martial arts training in years. I feel great. Today was my second karate class. I just got back home, hung my gi up to dry a bit, and ate some food, and as soon as I'm done with this entry I'm going to stroll back to the Y and go to the tae kwon do class. Sometime in the next couple of days I'm moving this site to a new host. Depending on how smooth the process is, this site might disappear for anywhere from five minutes to a day. Don't panic. Under a Shipwrecked Moon is Sherpa's best film yet. I've seen it twice now, once at its world premiere at Cell Space in SF, and once at 21 Grand with Dragon Lady. See it see it see it. Details on the Vertical Pool site. No more screenings in the Bay Area until September 6th, alas. There's a June 20th screening in Portland, but that's kind of out of the way... for most of us, anyway.
Happy Birthday, Geminica!
