Did the 8 of Swords yesterday; it's up in the Tarot section with the rest of them now. I'm still reading The Wind in the Willows to Dragon Lady. She usually drifts off after a page or so. But she doesn't drift all the way to sleep - instead, she floats for a while in a hypnogogic state at the edge of sleep, where she's not taking in the story, but is still taking pleasure from the sensations of being read to. When she's in this state, she will protest, inarticulately but vigorously, if I stop reading. So I read her a page or so that she actually registers, and then two or three pages that she won't remember the next day. Which means I end up reading each page at least twice, often more. Which is fine with me, since I only pick books in which the language is so beautiful that reading it aloud gives me the Happy Brain Tingles. Reading to Dragon Lady while she's mostly asleep is also good because it causes her to emit even more cutons than usual (cutons are particles of cuteness).
After my usual Saturday morning yoga marathon yesterday, I went out for sushi with Dragon Lady. We got to talking about musicals, of all things, and that's when the idea hit me... V for Vendetta: The Musical. Too my credit (I like to think), I only spent about two minutes trying to figure out how to completely change the course of my life so as to pick up the necessary skills and resources to become a creator of Broadway musicals, before the Voice of Sanity kicked in. Thanks to my recent immersion in The Wind in the Willows, I now have a name for such attacks: Mr. Toad Syndrome. By way of compromise, Voice of Sanity (Ratty? Badger?) pointed out to my inner Mr. Toad that there are others who already have the necessary skills and resources, and that perhaps all that I am meant to contribute is the inspiration. After all, I don't think I'd particularly enjoy creating a Broadway musical, and I don't particularly need to get money or fame from the idea, or even to get credit for it - I just want V for Vendetta: The Musical to exist, so that I can go see it, and so that I can live in a world where such a marvellous thing exists. "It's a small world," said Voice of Sanity. "Heck, you personally know two people who speak to Alan Moore on occasion. Just mention the idea in your journal, and rant and enthuse like an idiot about it to all your friends for the next few weeks, and sooner or later the right people will hear about it, and it will happen. It's such a good idea that once you put it out there, there'll be no stopping it." So there it is. Go to it, ya'll. Somehow, the conversation led to me and Dragon Lady, some hours later, renting and watching The Producers.
In other news, it's looking like a great month for Google searches. One week into the month, and my referrer logs are already showing such search terms as:
