30 July 2004: Two Things

The latest trend making the rounds of my friends' online journals is the Two Things Game. Yoko mentioned it in her journal yesterday morning, and by that evening, Lila had picked it up. So now I want to play, too.

Lila's description of the rules of the game was so clear and succinct that I can't improve upon it, so I'll just reprint it here:

Basically, the idea behind the Two Things Game is that any field of human knowledge or endeavor can be distilled down to the Two Things You Really Need to Know About It. So the game consists of picking fields that you know something about, and determining what the Two Things are for that field.

In keeping with the theme of her journal and her whole website, Lila's contributions to the game consisted of The Two Things About Bondage (for Tops) and The Two Things About Bondage (for Bottoms).

Since this site seems frequently to focus on matters mystical, I figured I'd go in that direction with my contributions. So here they are:

The Two Things About Hinduism:

1. All phenomena are naught but maya (illusion).

2. But it's the only game in town.

The Two Things About Kabbalah:

1. All form is energy acting upon energy.

2. All energy is the reverberation of the one eternal Word that springs forth endlessly from the Void.

The Two Things About LSD:

1. You'll know when you get there.

2. Yes, it's always doing that, you just don't usually notice.

The Two Things About Zen:

1. Pay attention.

2.

And for you aikidoka out there:

The Two Things About Ukemi:

1. It's about service.

2. Land during an exhalation.

The Two Things About Koyu Dosa:

1. The person who's grabbing is uke.

2. The person who's grabbing is nage.
